Advice on all those health supplement home business opportunities you keep seeing…

A health supplement home business opportunity is often the first way someone is introduced to network marketing. These programs usually rely on “continuity” (a fancy word for a “subscription”) in order for the distributor to make money.

Here’s how it works:

  • You sign up as a distributor for “Tibetazonian Super Noni Guava Laxative Cleanse Juice and Sunscreen”. You agree to order a certain amount of the juice/sunscreen in order to satisfy your “BV” or buying volume requirements each month (this is known as an “autoship”).
  • You go out and tell every one how great “Tibetazonian Super Noni Guava Laxative Cleanse Juice and Sunscreen” is, and inform them that this is the best health supplement home business opportunity in the history of mankind! Ground-floor opportunity! Fortunes will be made! Sunburns will be avoided!
  • You get a few friends to try it out, and they agree it tastes great, but can’t justify the cost (”After all, can’t I just buy this stuff at the store for less?”). You are discouraged. You wonder why your friends and family can’t see the obvious benefits of a laxative that prevents sunburn and tastes great. “What’s wrong with you people!” Your family thinks all that laxative and time in the sun has gone to your head.
  • You start going negative on your autoship since you haven’t gotten anyone else to buy the product. You realize that you have a closet full of laxative/sunscreen, and you’ve run out of toilet paper and live in Alaska. You cancel your autoship and decide that you will start it again after you’ve used your current supply of “Tibetazonian Super Noni Guava Laxative Cleanse Juice and Sunscreen”.
  • However, you still feel bad about your recent loss of revenue, so you decide to try selling a few bottles on eBay, only to find that the market is flooded with laxative/sunscreen. Apparently, all the people who shop on eBay have healthy digestion and live in Alaska, too. You are seriously bummed.

Seriously, if you are taking a product you really believe in, I don’t want to harsh on anyone’s company. I simply want to make a point that you should think about what you’re getting into before choosing a network marketing company as a home business opportunity.

Ask yourself the following questions when evaluating a health supplement home business opportunity (or any company, for that matter):

  • Has the company passed its 2-year birthday? Most new network marketing companies fail during their first two years; although it’s not a fail-proof litmus test, any company that lasts past its second birthday is probably going to be around for a while.
  • Is the company’s primary product unique in the market? In other words, does it satisfy an unfilled need among consumers? Does it solve a problem or alleviate an inconvenience? Does it do something that no other product in the market can do? Is it something people would buy even if they didn’t get paid for referring and recommending it to others? Would you recommend it even if you weren’t getting paid to talk about it?
  • Does the company rely on “autoship” orders for a great deal of the money paid out in it’s compensation plan? Here’s an industry statistic they probably don’t want you to know about… 3 months is the industry average for how long people stay with nutritional supplement autoship continuity plans. That doesn’t mean everyone drops out, but you need to be aware that people typically do not stay on autoship for very long. So, you have to make sure your company’s flagship product is “sticky”; in other words, something that people will continue to use month after month.
  • Or, do they offer “fast-start” bonuses that allow you to make a little extra money on the front-end to help you get going? Then, that’s a good thing. Why? Well, knowing the industry dropout rate, that means you can weed out the people who are going to drop out anyway while you’re finding your builders and still make enough money to pay for your own business activities.

Let me close by saying that I don’t think all health supplement home business opportunities are bad; however, I want you to research companies carefully before you make a decision to join and start trying to build a business.

Now, if you want to know the network marketing home business opportunity I selected that meets all my criteria, just click here.

Easy way to make a dream board

creating mlm free dream boardDream boards, also known as vision boards, are powerful tools to help us visualize exactly what we want to accomplish. They are basically a method of “mapping out” your vision for where you want to be, what you want to achieve, and the life you desire.

The most important thing to remember when working on and reviewing your dream board is that the process should involve the following:

- Tactile/feel (gluing or taping pictures to your board and touching them),

- Auditory (saying your affirmations as you touch the dream pictures, one by one),

- Mental (focusing and clearly seeing yourself achieving every single goal), and

- Emotional (feel the exact emotion you will feel when you achieve your dreams). It’s all about creating.

Free Dream Board Download

I’ve created a PDF file that you are free to use to easily map out your own vision and dream board. I am happy to share this with you; all I ask is that you go to my recommendations website and enter your name and email address. The link to the download is on the Resources page you’ll be taken to after you verify your email address.

Have fun creating your dream board!

Until next time,

How to make a million dollars in network marketing

how to make a million dollars in network marketing

If it’s not already obvious to you, I am fascinated by the concept of network marketing. In fact, all forms of passive residual income streams are, without a doubt, one of my favorite topics of study.

In my study of the business model, one question that I’ve returned to over and over again is, “Is it really possible to make a million dollars in network marketing?”

Personally, I haven’t made my first million in network marketing… but I’ve met several people who have become millionaires in various network marketing companies, so I know it’s entirely possible for an average person to achieve financial success in the industry. As for practical advice on how to do it, well, I’ll leave that to the experts who have actually done it.

I’ve read a lot of good books on network marketing, but these are two that really stand out as real, viable explanations of how to make a million dollars in network marketing.

And although they share completely opposite systems for building a network marketing business, each is based on similar principles:

- Build your list of contacts.
- Reach out to someone everyday and present your product or business.
- Follow-up.
- Be a leader.

Let me share them with you, along with a brief explanation and review.

Mike Dillard’s “Magnetic Sponsoring - This book is absolutely brilliant, and the information it contains hit me squarely between the eyes and shook me to my core. The catalyst that got me off my duff and set me on the path to building a real, solid business.

In the book Mike explains how he went through an eight-year process to become the type of leader that builds huge downlines - you know, the people you’ve seen on stage at events. The ones you wish you could be like. Well, Mike tells you how to do it.

No baloney, no BS, just simple, straightforward advice from someone who has done it. Excellent, excellent material. Should be required reading for anyone who wants to be an Alpha recruiter.

Jordan Adler’s “Beach Money” - (You can order it at www.beachmoney.com. However, if you want a “free” copy, go to http://www.abcsendoutcards.com and sign up for a retail package - I’ll send you a copy for free since you’ll be in my downline.) This is an absolutely great book, and what I consider to be the best book for people who don’t know much about technology yet want to get started right away recruiting people into their business.

Jordan is a funny guy - and he writes as if you are sitting right there next to him. He is quite candid about his many failures in network marketing before he had a big realization that led to his success (see pages 25 - 34 for a quick synopsis of how to make a million dollars in network marketing - even if you’re building slow and on a budget).

All-in-all, you can’t beat this book for it’s simple wisdom and complete honesty about the realities of building a network marketing business. If you want to learn how to make a million dollars in network marketing from a guy who is reputed to have 75% of his company’s distributors in his downline, this is the book to read.

Now, if network marketing isn’t your cup of tea, that’s okay. There are plenty of other ways to make a million dollars in this country besides building a network marketing downline. If that’s the case for you, I suggest you read this article on how to make a million dollars by Marshall Brain, the founder of HowStuffWorks.com.

What to Do When Your Family, Friends, and Co-Workers Say Your Business Idea is Crazy

When I was a much younger man, I decided to quit my J-O-B, ditch school, pack up all my stuff in my car, and move several hundred miles from home to a large city where I didn’t know a soul, all to pursue my dream of starting and running my own business.

I had $50 in my pocket, an old car I still owed money on that had bad brakes and a recently rebuilt engine (it threw a rod and cracked 2 cylinders - so I had spent all my savings getting it fixed).

Everyone thought I was crazy. But I wasn’t crazy… I was desperate.

Desperately motivated to pursue my dreams. I had what is known in entrepreneurial and marketing circles as “a strong motivating factor”. I wanted financial freedom. I wanted to do something I love for a living. I wanted my work to make a difference in other people’s lives.

Three years later, I was teaching martial arts full-time in my own location and making more money than I had ever made in my entire life. We’re talking the equivalent of doctor-lawyer-dentist money, a good living for a high-school drop out who didn’t yet have a college degree.

Everyone said I was crazy. I was told, “You’ll never make any money doing that!” My ex-girlfriend laughed and made fun of me behind my back for chasing a stupid dream. My family figured I’d quit and come running back home.

They were all wrong.

So, here’s what you do when everyone says your business idea is crazy. Don’t even acknowledge that their opinion has merit. It doesn’t. Their opinion has zero bearing on your success.

Then, go read “Unstoppable” by Cynthia Kersey. It’s full of stories that prove regular, everyday people are capable of accomplishing extraordinary things, even in the face of seemingly overwhelming odds.

mike and deanna massieNow, I’d like you to meet my own personal support and encouragement team, my beautiful wife Deanna. That’s her on the left there, standing next to the bleary-eyed guy who slept in that day. :)

Despite the fact that Deanna was raised in a family environment where she was taught that getting a college degree and securing a “good job” was the key to success, she provides me with unflinching support and encouragement in the pursuit of my dream of achieving complete and total time and money freedom.

They really don’t make them like her anymore, in my opinion. To paraphrase Les Brown, “I am truly blessed and highly favored”.

Until next time,
